In all surgery visuals, the message should be concise, unambiguous and absorbable within a second or
two. Our audience are up to date with the relevant anatomy better than anyone. Medical illustrators
have to provide the right visual clues, so surgeons can easily interpret complex camera angles, conceptual
distortions and triage of messages. This is how we can help elucidate the author’s arguments.
As the body of knowledge in Surgery increases exponentially, visual interpretations need to be more
creative, bolder and speaking louder than before.
