Treatment during Teenage years
Major operations to correct the deformed facial
skeleton will be done during this period.
• Reconstruction of the ears: consists of at
least 2 stages within a span of several years.
• Correction of the undeveloped jaw and
chin: it is very important to maintain good
oral hygiene for major jaw surgery during
16-18 years of age. The operations include
mandibular advancement osteotomy/
mandibular distraction and genioplasty.
Most of the patients also require orthodontic
treatment in combination with orthognatic
surgery.
• Restoration of normal cheeks - a variety of
techniques can be used to augment the
deficit malar bones, such as fat injection,
bone grafting, and implants.
Conclusion
Because of its distinct characteristic features,
TCS can be diagnosed quite easily. At present,
scientists and clinicians around the world have
gained more knowledge of this condition.
Many research studies about TCS in molecular
level have been conducted in order to find
out the best solution, which is, the prevention,
before the baby is born.
